    (Arnica Montana)

    Arnica has been used for medical purposes since 15th century and it is still widely used in the modern days. Arnica is Ha antibiotic, anti-inflammatory agent and pain relief properties. In Europe Arnica has been used to reduce swelling, bruising and to shorten the recovery time after extreme forms of physical trauma. The herb can be used externally and internally.

    Internal use:

    Only very low dosages of Arnica can be taken internally. Ingesting high amount of Arnica can be poisonous. The only known side effects are: gastric irritation, burning or the formation of gastric ulcers. Arnica can be taken internally immediately after surgery to relieve pain and bleeding. It can be used to treat urinary incompetence.

    External use:

    Arnica can be applied externally through oils, salves, creams or compresses.  As a herb, Arnica is generally used topically (on the skin ) to treat arthritis, rheumatism, muscle aches, muscular atrophy, tendonitis, neck and backache pain, physical trauma and swelling resulted from bone fractures.
